trick. He was a better boxer than Norton and had enough power to keep Norton
honest. Wben they fought, Norton was at or near the top of his game and Jerry
wasn't---plus Jerry took the fight with little notice and wasn't even in top
condition. This isn't to take anything away from Norton, but I think JQ matched
up well against him prime vs. prime.Kent: My cars include a new Saab 9-5
wagon, '93 BMW 325i and 1978 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. My work vehicle (company
car) is a 2001 Dodge Caravan and that's what I drive the most. My wife drives
the Saab wagon and I tool around in the BMW (her car) and my old Caddy on
weekends. My car of choice if I were buying new, just for myself, would
probably be something like the new Buick LaCrosse. Fantasy car? Probably a '63
Corvette, but I'd settle for a new Vette! |
PUNCHED MORE IN THE 13TH AFTER HE HURT JIMMY HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CHAMP.WHY
DID HE STOP?? BIG DETERMINING FACTOR IN HIS CAREER.|
I've said before, that round frustrates me more than any in boxing history.
Jerry staggered Ellis, and very unlike Jerry, he didn't finish the job. Some
claim his back was bad. I really don't know of any other explanation other than
injury. Normally, Jerry would have followed the big punch with a killer assault
and he would have won the title via TKO or KO. |
of Jerry's worst fights. The fight was pretty boring also and this is very
uncommon for JQ, as his fights were usually very exciting.|
about Soccer. Well just to say my kids play soccer, and my husband & I,
coach(kids have played Youth Soccer for like 10-12 years, and the 2 older ones
play for our High School Varsity team(they are awesome, and will get somewhere
with it), I myself have coached for 8 yrs now. Our family loves it, and yes my
Dad, and Uncle Jerry, have been to see them play and loved it themselves. Well
take care all.|
|3/25/05 05:41:38 PM|Fan|Fandom||Fan@Fandom.com||||10|He did have something
wrong with his back. James said so himself. Jerry was a much different fighter
that night, it can be directly attributed to that I'm afraid. Most nights Jerry
beats Ellis.|
|3/25/05 06:04:32 PM|Massimo |Roma||soccer.com||||10|Sonia Quarry-I'm
glad to hear that, soccer is my second favorite sport after boxing. But,
unfortunately, I couldn't coatch, I don't understand anything about tattics 4-3-
3, 5-3-2 etc. but, as a player, I wasn't that bad... My friends used to say I
had a good ball-touch, but my defects were that I got tired too soon and I
couldn't shoot the ball very hard... Aaah, I was a disaster in the head-shoot, I
have never learnt how to hit the ball with the head, maybe because I was afraid
to get heard. This is a little strange for a guy that wilt (I'm a legitimate
5'6"). Keep all your good work as a coatch, soccer is a wonderful sport !
Regards. |
personal experiece. With a back injury, it can feel fine for a long
time, regardless of your activities, even when training. Then, you twist or lift the
wrong way,and your in pain.I think this might be the reason Jerry was so
inconsistant, fighting straight up,laying back alot when he would normallyHe be
moving in.He did have Ellis in serious trouble in a few of the later rounds. When
I say serious trouble,I mean that Quarry usually jumped all over a guy when he
sensed he had him hurt.Quarry had a very highly developed finisher's instinct.
He did, however, for some reason, lose that fight in the last two rounds by just
standing there.I don't think he want'ed to admit after the fight, that the back
injury hampered him.|
