Like I said, the crowd was as entertaining as the wrestlers. Numerous members of
the audience got into loud, profane arguments with each other over the matches.
LOL!|
Massimo, yes a lot of the professional wrestling stunts are controlled and many
outright miss, but some do connect and some are real and they are becoming
increasingly more real to keep up with the more sophisticated audience of
today.Injuries do occur. Why do you think certain wrestlers disappear
for months at a time? I just hope they are not just tossed aside and forgotten
when they are of no use to wrestling anymore. Also, the steoroid use
appears to be rampant. A lot of you probably remember the fate of football
player Lyle Alzado, who died of cancer he believed was brought on by steroid
use. There is a wrestler who went through the same sort of misery. I
can't remember if he died because of it but he sure had a hard life, healthwise
because of steroids. His name was Billy "Superstar" Graham and he was the
inspiration for Hulk Hogan's character, the big long blond haired villian. If
you ever get to see any of the wrestling shows from the late 60s through much of
the 70s, you would swear it was Hogan you were watching as Hogan's character
really was the Superstar's character first. Hogan did change it to become a
good guy but the look was a definite copy. Former Minnesota governor also a
former pro wrestler, Jesse "The Body" Ventura also borrowed the look for his
wrestling persona. |
Superstar Billy Graham, Kent. His ankle bones didn't just break they turned to
dust (according to him). He went on an anti steroid campaign to warn others
about the dangers of using the hormones.I use to love the managers the old
timers had..Superstar had The Grand Wizard..and there was Classy Freddie
Blassie..and Captain Lou Albino
