organization in any year) from any activities related to boxing. Thus, for an
organization to be described as acting in an “advocacy” role, it
would have had to have written and sent letters to legislators, provided oral
testimony at hearings, produced manifestos and other such public statements, and
issued and distributed letters, newspaper columns, and press releases for public
reading in publications and on various sites on the world wide web that
supported changes enhancing the employment rights and consumer concerns of the
boxers and their fans respectively. While I am currently aware of only two
organizations in the United States that fit these criteria, the AAIB and TJQF,
other groups might meet these standards. Given the sordid history of boxing and
its enormous need for major and wholesale reformation, I believe that the
Commission should have five members, three of whom should be active and ongoing
members of these “advocacy organizations”. If this idea is not
adopted, the Commission will undoubtedly be another “go along, get along,
business as usual, don’t rock the boat” bureaucracy that merely
promotes the self-destructiveness of the status quo of professional boxing, Thus
the adoption and implementation of this concept would be an excellent way of
avoiding that problem and promoting positive change in boxing, something that
this sport desperately needs. If you want to provide feedback, I can be
been a long time since we've heard from Mr. George Otto. As you can see,
whenhe speaks about boxing it is very well worth reading. Thanks George for
letting us knowthat you still have something to say. Sometime in the near
future we will be moving thisweb page to another server. From what I
understand Carl Weingarten has re-designed our page.We are in the final
stages of preporation. The safety in boxing has come along way since we
wentpublc with Jerry's dementia. My wish now would be that if a boxing
commission make a decissionregarding a fighter it should be enforceable in
all areas. Example, Mike Tyson.|
thank you for the kind words. More letters on S. 893 will follow before October.
Please give my regards to Brandi and the rest of your family !!|
understanding that the reciprocity act should make it so all of the states here
in America should honor the state of Nevada's supension. Is it because Tyson
wasn't formally suspended but just denied a license for one fight that this
isn't the case? But even if he is not allowed to fight in the U.S., he could
still do so in another country. That is if he can get a visa which he might not
be able to get because of pending criminal investigations against him. |
well in the late 70's when he lived in Anaheim Hills had the pleasure of meeting
most of his family. You, James lived in Huntington Beach at that time and Jerry
helped Janet move into her apartment. I can only assume Jerry really needed the
money to get back in the ring again. Thank heaven he always had a very
supportive and loving family to take care of him as he got worse. I remember
him singing, dancing and making up rhymes. He took me skiing on my birthday in
Mammouth and he seemed fine then. I hope Jerry Lyn and Keri have good memories
of him, although I know it was rough on them. My best to all the Quarry family.
I remember Jerry fondly and have my own personal memories of the time we spent
together.|
