career 575 rounds and Ali 546. It says a lot about Holmes's defense that he
appears undamaged by his long career. Holmes had 73 fights involving bangers
like Shavers, Norton, and Cooney. I'd say that all the sparing he did with Ali
helped him immensely and it's no coincidence he and Ali have the best jabs ever.
I like Holmes a lot and always have. I honestly think he's probably #4 of all
time heavyweights.|
better jab than Ali', it was much more powerful. Joe Louis's jab was better than
Ali''s and maybe even Lennox Lewis's. These are my top 6 best jabbers
ever.1) Sonny Liston2) Larry Holmes3) Joe Louis4) Lennox
Lewis-Ali'6) George Foreman |
mentioned Noam's comments about Frazier's outside the ring activity to show that
he can't stop talking about Frazier. I stand by my comment of talking only
about boxing regarding Ali or Frazier for many months.Hey Massimo, are
you Jumpity Bruce's biggest fan or am I?|
war/military topic, I've stated before, several times, and I will again now---
the men and women (including one of the young Quarry boys who has posted here)
who represent our nation in the military are the bravest and best young people
we have. They don't make the political decisions---they just put their lives on
the line, for too little pay, to protect the U.S. and our interests. I never
joined the military---never had to---because a lot of very capable and very
courageous men and women have formed a great volunteer army while I and
countless others have had the luxury of pursuing other interests. These people
deserve to be thanked, not spit on, when they come back from combat. When I see
these people arriving back from Iraq at the Airport (I do some work there), I
thank them. They're out fighting to protect me and my family, our nation and
our friends around the world. They generally go about their work quietly and
competently. In a lot of ways, they remind me of our best police and
firefighters---two more groups who lay it all on the line everyday and basically
aren't respected the way they should be. The amount of rounds Larry Holmes
fought, as a younger man in with tigers like Norton and Shavers----and as an
older man, taking on Mercer, Holyfield, etc. is amazing. He bridged two
generations and even stepped in with young, strong, ambitious Mike Tyson.
You seem like a one trick pony to me. I bet you haven't even seen most of the
fights but you carry on like a windbag. You probably weren't even alive during
all this but you act like a n expert. You don't fool the Stallion.|
|8/3/05 12:44:59 PM|Kent|Murrieta, Ca||kentallenent@aol.com||||10|Charles, I was
against the U.S. going into Iraq as I still don't see a connection between Iraq
and the attacks on us on 9/11/01.Our focus should be on who attacks us
so attacking the terrorist base in Afghanistan was the correct thing to
do.However, since we are Iraq you are correct in saying it would be
wrong to pull out before the mission is completed. It would leave the country
in turmoil. One good thing about our going into Iraq that I am sure
everyone can agree on is Saddam Hussien is gone from power. If anyone deserves
a hanging for all of the world to see, it is him, sadistic butcher!I
still don't know how we could have gotten rid of him except than to attack Iraq
