Scheduled rounds is 12 until the quarter finals when it goes up to 15 - this
does pose a problem in respect of todays fighters not having that distance
anymore but we'll have to get by. |
you open for? That is something I always wanted to do.I have never
quite got out of the bar band scene but still am amazingly plugging away
somewhat. Part of the problem is I like to rock but I have a somewhat mellow
voice and I should croon more. I have a good ballad sound and also can do
country but I don't know many of those songs. Ironically, I write my own
material and it tends to be country flavored as I come up with storys. I also do
some good 70s and 80s R and B ballads like "Show and Tell" by Al Wilson, Let's
Stay Together by Al Green, and Bobby Caldwell's "What you won't Do For
Love."I have a good friend from Philly so I will have to mention Billy
Horner to him.There was a regular here a while back who does a good
Elvis act who wouldn't want me to mention who he is, at least when he was
posting he didn't think it was a good idea. Just think, we could probably put
on a heck of a show just from the people here. Massimo and Jimmy D.
background vocals. You never know.I have to admit, Fran, Steve, and my
buddy from Philly are very loyal Eagles fans. Me, I am more of an Eagles fan of
the Hotel California and Take it Easy variety, ha! ha! You know, "I was
standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona such a fine sight to see."Alas
to say Massimo, I don't who the Italian performers are.|
|6/2/04 07:44:54 AM|Evren|London||@||||10|Kent I-m into all the same music as
you. Do you remember Major Harris - Love wont let me wait? What a smoocher! How
about Lamont Dozier -Why cant we be lovers? Does anyone remember General Crook.|
|6/2/04 08:41:35 AM|Fran|Philly||plc7755@aol.com||||10|While on the subject of
singing which one of Jerry's sisters sang with him on the Ed Sullivan show. My
father always brings that up and slways says how good they were.|
|6/2/04 09:45:17 AM|Kent|La Habra, Ca||kentallenent@aol.com||||10|Fran, of
course the Quarrys will correct me if I am wrong, but I think Diana is the
sister who sang with Jerry. I seem to remember Mr. Jimmy telling me it was her.
I don't know if any of the other sisters are good singers. Of the
brothers, I don't know if he could sing well when he was younger but Mr. Jimmy
had a gravally speaking voice, not much use for singing and it is my opinion
that Mike and Bob can't sing well, sorry guys, I just call em as I see em.
Although when I met Mike, he told me he had hurt his voice when he was younger,
so maybe he could sing before this.Evren, yes I remember Major Harris
and his one big hit and I vaguely remember Lemont Dozier. General Crook, on the
other hand, does not ring a bell.|
|6/2/04 11:39:50 AM|charles anderson|ark.||ctjjandfam@aol.com||||10|not only
could jerry sing, but he did agreat impersonation of ali.|
|6/2/04 11:43:20 AM|charles anderson|ark.||ctjjandfam@aol.com||||10|if anyone is
interested i do a pretty mean ELVIS. (don't be cruel)|
|6/2/04 01:26:40 PM|Gerry|Cleveland, the home of Don King||you know||||10|Evren,
if you are pairing randomly, does that mean that there won't be a seeding for
the first eight or 16 guys? Please don't put Vonda Ward in there, the current
women's 190 lbs. champ. She hasn't fought a guy yet, I wish she would... Kent, I
don't go as classic as some of you, the groups I opened for were 70's hard
rockers, still pretty cool for me. I definitely am an Eagles fan, the group more
than the NFLers, but the football team is very good too. If they don't win their
division, what will you do, Steve? Our Browns are looking at a tough year...
Incidentally, I grudgingly have to give the Lakers their fair credit. I'll now
soak my hands in Listerine for typing that... |
|6/2/04 03:19:41 PM|Angelo|Washington, DC||funktron@yahoo.com||||10|Wait, Major
Harris? I thought it was Major Lance. Didn't Major Lance do "Monkey Time?" So
maybe it WAS Major Harris who did "Love Won't Let Me Wait." I like the early
George Clinton stuff (old Parliaments)"I Wanna Testify" and "The Goose That Laid
