Mercer would really surprise with his toughness and stick with George for 6-7
rounds before losing by TKO. I'm embarrassed to admit I know very little about
Hurricane Jackson, but I always thought Tony Tucker was underrated, so I'll give
Tucker the benefit of the doubt. My picks are Foreman and Tucker... Alzado, Rich
Jackson, Jerry Sherk - all very tough guys. As for being the baddest or the
greatest (Alzado, Ali ), that kind of blather is in the eye of the beholder. |
that his fights were fixed, Roadscholarette? Your evidence? You can begin by
quoting experts and citing the references. What you allege must be solid and
specific. Your arguments will be weak if you cite obviously biased sources
like Joe Frazier. Where are some objective witnesses with material evidence that
Ali's fights were fixed? Their testimony should agree, too. As to Ali's
character, what figure in history has given so much hope and inspiration to so
many billions of people, and for the last 35 years? Ali is probably still the
most famous and recognized human being in the world. When I was in college and
for ten years after, Ali was the hands-down favorite of all my friends. He was
one of the few Americans with courage to stand up to and refuse the American
military industrial complex that left 57,000 Americans dead in Vietnam. In the
black communities of the world and especially Africa, Ali is still greatly
admired, perhaps #1. I submit to you that no crook, no cheat, no habitual
fixer or fraud can attain that level of love and respect, certainly not for all
these decades. Ali has visited millions of people and made his spirit known to
them. They know. Your charges are extremely serious and as yet
unsubstantiated. |
questions for you. You say: "Not to further fuel an arguement that has
already gotten very personal, I also am/was not an Ali fan for reasons long ago
given. He did get away with much more than most, and did not exhibit himself to
be much of a person. Frazier and Norton have commented on him, they have Ali
correct."First, what's wrong with an argument, and a personal argument,
Gerry? Do your disapprove, and if so, why exactly? Second, what do you
mean when you say Ali "did not exhibit himself to be much of a person"? What
exactly did Frazier and Norton say about him? You and Roadscholarette
must substantiate your claims with testimony we can confirm and facts. Otherwise
what you say is no more than rumor or an expression of your own dislike.
I asked Roadscholarette why she personally dislikes Ali so much, and she
had no answer. Human beings rarely hate each other without a reason or a
perceived idea. It would be much more admirable and respectable if you two
simply admitted why it is. |
detect that you are attracted to the pretty boy ? You seem overly protective of
your hero Clay. Keep your pants on for a moment and I'll teach you a few
things.Robinson and Ali are often named as the best fighters ever, but
for my money, the greatest, and the most fundamentally sound, was Roberto Duran,
who didn't need to fix fights to win.The best thing that Clay had going
for him was that he had a rock for a head and was good at disguising when he was
in trouble, which was a lot when he fought Frazier.Where's your pretty
boy now, Ernie ? He doesn't make many public appearances as he used to. I
imagine he feels wretched from the Parkinsons, and the medicines he's on, plus
he's aware of how he comes off. On tv they have to close caption when he speaks
so viewers know what he is saying. Oh yeah, he was the greatest
alright.Stick to janitoring Ernie, and let the rest of us discuss
boxing. Heaven forbid we say something bad about your hero Saint Muhammad.
