bet you remember me. We played a lot of ping pong, and shared a lot of laughs
at the Concord Hotel during the summer of 1977. God, are we both 50?Of
course I won nearly every game which pissed you off so you offered to teach me
to box, and nearly took my head off.The last time I saw you was right
after my Birthday 5/7 when you and Gil clancy left the Concord for your 2nd
fight with Mike Rossman. Was Ellen your wife then? I seem to remember someone
else.You guys took me out for my birthday at some local ice cream place but
what I remember most is that we loved hanging out together, and for a while, we
were great friends. We wrote a few times but lost touch.Of course I met
Jerry too and he best me in ping pong mostely through intimidation. When I got
to 18 points and he was behind, he'd slam the table or start shadow boxing. It
worked, I rarely won the game.I felt sad when I heard Jerry died, and
thought of you, but really had no way to reach you till I stumbled on this
website.Write me if you get this. I'd love to hear from you.

variety of roles, I had the good fortune of working with James Quarry on
multiple boxing issues since 1995. He was a good listener and compasssionate
man who strongly supported TJQF's involvement in all of the important activities
and issues that supported the rights of the professional fighters. These
included the Professional Boxing Act of 1996, the National Association of
Attorney Generals' Hearings On Professional Boxing in 1999, and the Muhammed Ali
Boxing Reform Act of 2000, and National Boxing Commission Act of 2001. Because
of James' interest for these types of issues, TJQF played a key role in
promoting the betterment of the sport-- especially in working in conjunction
with the American Association for the Improvement of Boxing and U.S. Senator
John McCain of Arizona. All that is right and good in the world of professional
pugilism mourns this terrible loss !! |
