boxing anymore, yes it was Dianna who was the singer. When we were young my dad
had all of us entertain him and my mom. Nixon was married to my yonger sister,
thirty years ago. He did like getting into fights who knows why. Jerry never
lost a street fight believe me it did not happen,so who ever porkchop is he is
putting out porkbarrel.me |
Happy Days.com||||10|Hey Angelo, you forgot about Abner Goldstein. He was the
backbone of the Carver team!Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb?
A jewish kid on a Los Angeles inner city team, not likely.|
|7/16/04 03:11:31 PM|Chucky Arcola|Milwakee, as always||arnolds.com||||10|Fonzie
is right ! My cousin Fonzie is alwaysright ! He was part of the Falcons, he
is a tough guy ! I remember when Coolidge played with the Arnold Globetrotters
in un provino ( sorry, I forgot English, I don't know "provino" in English
), just like Wilt. They didn't accept him in the team. What a fool bunch of
idiots !!!!!!Too bad for them ! To refuse( or refusing) Coolidge in a
basketball team is like to refuse(or refusing) Pele' or Diego Maradona in a
soccer team !!!!!!!Or Bobby Fisher in a chess team !|
can forgive our silliness with the TV names. We are just having a little fun
and even if someone doesn't think it is funny, cut us some slack. There have
been a lot worse things written here at times. Life is too short to be serious
all of the time anyway.|
CALIFORNIA||RONNYRAINS@YAHOO.COM||||10|Brenda: i'll never say the real name of
the party,That unfortunatly raised some topics here,It was not he that told of
the situations with your brother,in Kern County. And i'll officially put it to
rest, He was hired muscle, for the wellga's, and did not ever say much, I was
not affiliated with his crowd anyway, and have no ties, Put them in the ring
and Jerry would have literally killed him. Jim and Mike may well have known
him.And this was when I was working in the oil fields above lost hills. (for
GOLDEN STATE PETROLEUM). Mike Nixon intrigued me for some reason,Maybe because
I'd seen him fight so much, Duke Ellington of Delano Knew both Nixon and
Jerry,Thats how I knew he scrapped with Jerry. He said Nixon was crazy.Back to
boxing another thing about Quarry's career. is the upsets, all four draws, and
Patterson II,Spencer,Mathis,Foster,Lyle. Were all upsets in Jerry's favor,and
Machen, Ellis,Chuvalo and Frazier II, Jerry was the favorite,thats 13 total, and
a lot in anyone's career. I'd have to say Cranmer was also an upset, but I would
bet the house, that particular bout, HAD NO BETTING LINE!!|
|7/17/04 12:20:05 PM|Kent|La Habra, Ca||Kentallenent@aol.com||||10|I am
attending the Kirk Johnson comeback fight verses a fighter named Gilbert
Martinez on Sunday.I will be at the weigh in today and it will be
interesting to see what weight Johnson comes in at. He came in at 260 pounds in
his last fight against Vitali Klitschko and he got creamed in less than two
rounds. Let's see if he has trained at all for this fight. His opponent is 18-
7-1, 7 by KO not a big threat but you never know.|
|7/18/04 04:25:52 AM|A guy with a standing reach of about 7'1"|Roma in Europa (
Kent knows that )||4||||10|Jerry Quarry vs Doug Jones around 1967 would have
been a great fight !|
|7/18/04 10:14:25 PM|Ernie Laxalt|Reno||elax66@aol/com||||10|OK, Massimo, since
we discuss every part of boxing here, what would be the IDEAL SHOE SIZE for a
boxer? I assume it depends on his weight class, but not by much. You want a
good, strong foot with arches that won't let you down. You need to take extra
good care of your feet always, including how you put on and wear your sox. (UCLA
basketball coach John Wooden always made a special point of that.) If your foot
is too big, I think you'll be clumsier and kind of trip over yourself or your
opponent in close. If your foot's too small, your calf and other leg muscles
