are not bigger than the fighters of the past who are doing well because of their
was a great poster, but she was so enamoured with Smokin' Joe, she actually
thought he would have beaten Ali in Manilla if he answered the bell for the
15th!"He would have, and without even throwing a punch. Mr. Muhammad
couldn't walk after the 14th.|
saw on the Internet with GoogleEarth your home town La Habra and I think it's
really very nice, a lovable city. I was surprised there are no skyscrapers but a
lot of trees and swimming pools.|
not have been able to walk after the 14th---ONCE HE KNEW HE WON. Ali would have
found a way to walk, skip, jump and dance for the 15th, and if needed, the 16th,
17th and 18th. He'd only collapse when he knew his work was done. If Frazier's
corner let him out for the 15th, he would have been seriously injured. Joe was
one of the best, but he couldn't see at that point in the fight.|
I don't live there now, La Habra, California is still my hometown and it will
always be. I lived there for about 20 years when I was younger and more
recently I lived there for 6 yearsIt is mostly residential with small
industrial areas and some retail stores, big name chain stores and smaller
businesses. It is about 30 miles south of Los Angeles but it is more
like a small town even though there are over 50,000 people who live there. It
is also about 10 miles from Anaheim, the home of Disneyland, where I spent a lot
of fun times in my youth. You are right, there are a lot neighborhoods
with trees lining the streets and a lot of houses have swimming
pools. There is probably more crime there than when I was growing up but
it still isn't among the leaders in the area as far as having a high crime
rate.|
|1/7/06 11:55:44 AM|For Your Info|Markham||FYI@yahoo.com||||8|Hmmmmn, there
seems to be a pattern here. I'll write something and the next day someone will
make the same statement as if it were their own.For instance I wrote
"Actually I felt he was jobbed against Quarry and Ellis. He deserved the nod in
the first and the second could've gone either way. He definately beat Ellis. So
that's official and "un" official wins against good boxers." The next
day Kent wrote the same thing. As if I didn't write this BEFORE he
did.Next I wrote: "WRONG! Another little known fact is that Patterson
did indeed challenge after he last faught Ali. First off Kent is wrong about
Patterson retiring. He never did. At least not officially. Patterson just didn't
fight.Patterson called Ali out after he (Ali) beat Wepner for his first
defence." The next day U-Ray wrote the same thing. At least about
Patterson not officially retiring. As if I didn't just write it before he
did.Hmmmmmm? I hope you guys aren't stealing my
material.Maybe I should patten my statements. He he he. Just kidding. |
|1/7/06 01:14:07 PM|Kent|Murrieta, Ca||kentallenent@aol.com||||10|For Your
Information, saying that a lot of people thought Patterson beat Ellis is not
copying you. I was just stating that a lot of people thought Patterson
won.I can't comment on that fight personally as I never saw Ellis verses
Patteson. As far as Quarry verses Patterson 1, it was very close and a
draw was a fair decision. Mr. Jimmy (James Quarry) always thought that the
knockdown in the seventh round was a slip and that Jerry was not knocked
down.I haven't seen that fight for a long time but as I remember it, I
tend to agree with Jimmy Q's view which means in a close fight a case could be
made for Jerry winning both Patterson fights, which by the way both could have
gone either way.Stating that Patterson never officially retired is a
moot point as he never did fight again. Does that mean he still hasn't retired
