think we could talk Frazier into it. It would be like Bobby Riggs vs. Billie
Jean King all over again, updated because women have come a long way since 1973!
Laila would have more speed and possibly more endurance than Frazier. But Joe
might still pack a powerful hook which could ice her if he lands. Plus, she's
an Ali, so he'd be motivated. Leila might get a decision win.|
|8/5/05 05:05:30 PM|Noam|same||same||||10|Massimo - Two Ton Tony Galento's
manager was a guy called Joe Jacobs and he accused Joe Louis have having held a
metal bar in his right glove the night he knocked out Max Schmeling. Louis made
Jacobs retract the allegation under threat of legal action.Galento was a
brave/crazy guy. He went out of his way to tease Louis before they fought and he
actually made comments similar to what Duran made about Leonard's wife before
their first fight. When they were being given instructions from the referee,
Galento said to Louis, "I am going to .... your wife." Louis went out and let
himself get caught up in a good old fashioned brawl.Kent - I apologized
for recent things I said to you responding to things you said to me. I went
over-the-top. I didn't apologize for the Dead Parrot Society. You are still a
hall-of-famer. Nothing's changed there and I still don't think you are fair with
Ali and his personal life compared to Frazier and his personal life. And, and,
and, I could go on but won't....Fan - actually, I didn't apologize to
Kent because of anything you said, and you are being mischevious and provocative
in saying so. Pete - good comment about North Korea. I'd forgotten about
President Clinton naively signing that agreement there. The 'dear leader' pulled
the wool over Clinton's eyes and so did Saddam. |
his political anger on this site will you be as thoughtful to him as your are to
me. And point out all the things Gerry the Vet left out.Roosevelt knew
what was going on in Russia, but at the time he was knee deep battling the great
depression.Regarding any President would have done what Roosevelt did.
Do really believe President Reagan would have given eastern Europe to Russia? Do
you think President Bush would have given eastern Europe to the Russians? Do you
think President Nixon would give eastern Europe to Russia? Roosevelt and Truman
would. President Carter would. And I have no doubt Clinton would.|
notice, I did comment on Gerry's assesment of Jane Fonda's conduct during he
Viet Nam war. I felt he downplayed the significance of the damage Fonda did
when she protested on a North Vietanamese anti aircraft gun. She slapped our
servicemen in the face with her actions. Read my post of 8/2/05.Noam,
when have I ever said anything negative about Ali? The only thing I have said,
except that he is the greatest of all time is I understand his unwillingness to
serve in the military. Hardly a critical comment about him.You can't
just assume what I really think by information that is not there. I wrote what
I really think about him.Supporting both Frazier and Ali are not
contradictory.|
|8/5/05 07:58:27 PM|Italian Stallion|Philly||Unknown||||10|When you need someone
on the damn line that stands up for his country you find who is real and who
isn't. Shadows don't save countries and pacifists are shadows. They may really
be there, but will just let you walk through them just like Chamberlin. Bernard
knows the first rule of warfare, always overestimate your enemy.|
|8/5/05 08:12:03 PM|Noam|same||same||||10|Kent, Kent, Kent....I thought we'd
moved on (and I apologized to make that possible), but my beef was that you let
OTHERS make poor taste comments about Ali, and then didn't chip them for it like
you do when comments were made about Frazier. That was the point. Lots
of stuff was written damning Ali - from his religious views to celebrations of
his deteriorating medical condition - and you said nothing to them for doing it.
Yet when I mentioned RECENT stuff involving Frazier - not rumours or biased
hatred but factual stuff actually published in newspapers - you accused me of
muck racking. I'm past that. I'm not worried about it. I apologized so we could
