9. The PRESIDENT:
We do indeed take it into account and understand the issue. Does Mr Molnar wish to make any
comment? No. The representative of the United Republic of Tanzania now has the floor.
10. Mr SHEYA (United Republic of Tanzania):
Thank you, Madam President. I have a contribution to make in connection with the printed report, on
page 34 of the English version of document 30 C/62, fourth bullet, with respect to 30 C/DR.1. Madam President,
in this draft resolution recognition has been given to aspects of the culture of maintenance, and a
recommendation has been made to include activities related to the culture of maintenance within Major
Programme II. I would like to add, at the end of that paragraph, after the words “document 30 C/5”, the following
text: “it being understood that seed money will be identified within the regular budget during the preparation of
the work plans, and that additional funding will have to be found from other sources, such as extrabudgetary,
including funding from Member States or the Participation Programme”. Thank you, Madam President.
11. The PRESIDENT:
I would appreciate it if I could have your proposal in writing, so that I can repeat it later. I assume
someone will support it. The representative of Colombia has asked for the floor.
Merci beaucoup.
13. The PRESIDENT:
Thank you. I give the floor to the representative of Kenya.
14. Mr IRINA (Kenya):
Madam President, I want to support the amendment that has been made by the United Republic of
Tanzania. Thank you.
15. The PRESIDENT:
Can I have the reaction of the Assistant Director-General for Education?
16. Mr POWER, Assistant Director-General for Education:
This poses no problem for us. Thank you very much.
17. The PRESIDENT:
Mr Molnar, is this acceptable to you, too? It appears to be. Can we then agree on this amendment, which
I think is of importance to quite a few countries? I see no objections, and I therefore take it that the amendment is
accepted. Thank you. I now give the floor to the observer for Palestine.
