Polymeric films of O-Carboxymethyl chitosan and Allium cepa extract possess
numerous bioactive components that are of great interest for biomedical
applications in tissue regeneration. In this work, these types of functionalized
films are obtained using the casting method and the Allium cepa extract is
obtained through an ethanolic process at room temperature. The effect of the
Allium cepa extract in cell proliferation and migration was studied by an “in vitro”
healing technique. Also, the mechanical, physicochemical and biological
properties of the functionalized polymeric films were determined. According the
obtained results, these films could be used in skin regeneration.
