A novel Zn/Co zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) has been constructed and the
structured formed is a sodalite (SOD) cage type structure. The XRD results
demonstrated that Zn/Co-ZIF has a sodalite structure similar as ZIF-8 and ZIF-67,
however, Zn/Co-ZIF possess different physical properties (surface area,
porosity, and thermal stability, etc.) and chemical properties (CO 2 -TPD, NH 3 -
TPD). 1 This study illustrates the high ability for gas adsorption/separation
applications and the use as a heterogeneous catalyst of Zn/Co-ZIF. The stability
tests illustrated that Zn/Co-ZIF exhibit an improved stability compared with
single metal ZIFs (ZIF-8, ZIF-67). Hence, it is suggested that the mixed metal ZIF
structure, Zn/Co-ZIF, displays an opportunity to tailor and design the sodalite
cage to enhance physical and chemical properties. 2,3
