ZnS is a semiconductor material (II-IV family) with a band gap value of 3.7 eV.
The optoelctronic properties of this material allow it to be used as a buffer layer
on photovoltaic solar cells. ZnS thin films were deposited on soda-lime glass with
a FTO (SnO2) by chemical bath deposition technique. The films were thermal
annealed on air, argon, oxygen and cadmium chloride. The obtained films
presented an optical deficiency, leading n-type conductivity. The morphological
results revealed that oxygen thermal treatment is the best option to improve
the physical properties of this material.
