In this work we study the influence of the synthesis method on the
optical properties of organic nanoparticles (ONPs). By using as a precursor the
organicmonomer namely 4,7-bis[2- [9,9dime-til]uorine]benzo[1,2,5]tiadiazol
(a π conjugate molecule comprising non-linear optical properties) two different
type of ONPs were synthesized. The first type of them was synthesized by using
Laser Ablation (LA) method and the second one by reprecipitation method (Rep).
For LA method, 0.5mm (±0.1mm) of needle crystals were first grew from
the monomer, and then ablated in an aqueous medium. A two-step LA
procedure (30 min with laser fluence of 20mJ followed of 14 min with laser
fluence of at 40mJ) avoids damaging on the needle crystals and generated a
uniform dispersion of ONPs. On the other hand, through Rep method stable
ONPs were generated. By using different optical techniques as (Absorption
spectroscopy, Emission spectroscopy, Scanning Electrical Microscopy and
Dynamic Light Scattering) we found that LA generate ONPs with differentiated
structural and optical properties compared to those synthesized by Rep.
According to the results, this might be a consequence that ONPs obtained by LA
have monocrystalline structure while those obtained by Rep are mainly
amorphous. In both cases, the nonlinear optical properties in these ONPS are
useful for biophotonic applications.
