ANALYSIS AND TRANSFORMATION OF GUADUA: WASTE TO<br />

INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS<br />

This study is framed in the field of the materials engineering for the purpose of<br />

developing sustainable products.<br />

The Guadua (Guadua angustifolia biotype Macana) is a traditional plant known<br />

since the time of the colony, is characterized by its rapid growth (21 cm per day),<br />

its low cost of production, easy propagation and management, make it a highly<br />

resource Renewable and a viable alternative to timber resources.<br />

In the development and transformation of this resource are generated various<br />

wastes such as sawdust and small cuts, which are the main input for this<br />

research.<br />

This study aims to characterize through standardized tests Guadua waste<br />

generated during its use (sawdust, small cuts), which would serve as<br />

reinforcement along with three types of resins (matrix) evaluated to obtain<br />

panels with better mechanical characteristics that will serve as input for the<br />

development of new products in the furniture, construction and decoration<br />

sector.<br />
