Bimetallic nanoparticles have interesting properties for optics, electronics,
magnetic and chemical applications. Pulsed laser ablation in liquid is an effective
synthesis method to fabricate alloy nanoparticles. In this work, we obtained
colloidal solutions of bimetallic silver / titanium (Ag-Ti) nanoparticles by ablation
using a nanosecond pulsed Nd: YAG laser of wavelength 532 nm. These
nanoparticles were characterized for their structure, morphology and
composition. Electrophoretic deposition was used to fabricate thin films using
these bimetallic nanocolloids. The films were deposited on different substrates
under various deposition parameters of electrophoretic deposition. The
morphology and composition of these bimetallic coatings obtained are
discussed in detail. The results show that electrophoretic deposition is an
effective technique to obtain thin films of bimetallic nanoparticles their laser
synthesized nanocolloids.
