This work is aimed at the development of photovoltaic cells based on thin film
electrodeposition of Cooper-Indium selenide (CIS), and Indium selenide (IS) or
Cadmium sulfide (CdS). These films are grown up on a glass substrate coated
with fluorine doped tin dioxide (FTO), acting as a transparent conductive
window, that was deposited by spray pyrolysis. The back electrode is made of
sputtered Molybdenum (Mo). The deposition techniques, including annealing,
will be presented, and then the characterization of the resulting films by X-ray
diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive
spectroscopy (EDS), X-photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman and optical
spectroscopies, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and electrical measurements
(conductivity, mobility, IxV curves) will be reported. Preliminary results on the
fabricated photovoltaic cell performances will be given. The main difficulties
encountered during this development will be exposed and discussed.
