Up to date CdTe solar cells technology has used CdS as window material,
however due to the Cadmium toxicity many efforts to find materials who can
substitute it has been done. In this way, In2S3 has shown adequate physical
properties to be applied on solar cells. In this work, In2S3 thin films were
deposited by chemical bath deposition technique. After their characterization,
CdTe solar cells reduced in cadmium were developed using In2S3 as window and
buffer layer. Short current density (JSC), open circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF)
and photovoltaic efficiency (η) were influenced by the In2S3 films use .Novel
window material like In2S3 with a wider band gap than traditional CdS improve
the current generation in the wavelength range of 300–500 nm increasing the
photovoltaic efficiency.
