The results are presented for the generation of compounds based on
polyurethane foams, which were modified with starch, and on which it was
studied the adhesion of microorganisms in different controlled conditions. In
the current study, a batch adhesion process was applied to analyze controlled
factors such as pH, contact time, temperature, an initial concentration of
biomass and biomass adhered to the medium, and this was verified in cubes of
polyurethane foam (PUFC)/starch by a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
Noting an improvement in the colonization of the polyurethane cubes according
to the starch content. These results suggest that PUFC/starch can be applied to
environmental processes such as wastewater biofiltration.
