The aluminates present mechanical, crystallochemical and optics properties
that are appropriate for ionizing radiation detection. In particular,
thermoluminescence studies have been made to strontium aluminate doped
with rare earths. Following this research line, a Sr 4 Al 14 O 25 : Ce +2 synthesized by
the combustion method study is presented, as well as the structural and
morphological characterization, thermoluminescence response and kinetic
parameters to X ray irradiation. The Xray diffraction show the presents of a
monoclinic phase and an orthorhombic phase depending on the procedure,
being the orthorhombic phase the most favorable phase for a higher
thermoluminescence response. Using Cheng’s approximation, first order kinetic
parameter was found. According to the chemical composition, the effective Z is
above 27.
