GOOD THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES: DESIGNING
NANOALLOYS FOR BIOLOGICAL APPLICATONS
Thomas Webster 1
1 Northeastern University, Chemical Engineering, United States.
The best materials can come alloys, where attractive properties one material are
merged with those of another material. This is even more true for nanomaterials
used in biological properties. This invited talk will cover some of the more
promising nanoalloys used in medical applications where, for example, metals
known to reduce bacteria functions are combined with magnetic materials to
provide for magnetically directed bacetria killing agents. Other examples include
incorporating nanomaterials which fight bone cancer with those that promote
healthy bone growth. This talk will cover some of the more exciting approaches
in using nanoalloys across numerous biological applications and where
nanoalloys have proven superior to conventional micron structured alloys.
Keywords: nanotechnology, medical, biology
