Objetive
The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the toxicity of SiO2/DA matrix,
before been implanted in the brain (stratum) of rat in an induced
hemiparkinsonism model. It is worth mentioning that Silicio Dioxide with
dopamine (SiO2/DA) matrix has achieved to reduce the dopamine oxidation and
it allows its release in tissue through the nanopores that has.
Material and Methods
Presterilized SiO2/DA samples were implanted by intramuscular or
intraperitoneally in Wistar rats. 2 and 6 h after injection, animals were sacrificed
for histological examination of tissue with implanted matrix and analysis
surrounding tissues were performed.
Results
Histological examination of implanted samples only revealed a matrix
encapsulated without evidence of the inflammatory response of surrounding
tissues caused by the foreign body and surrounding tissue remained well
vascularized after implant.
The histological analysis of the liver, heart, lung, kidney not showed structural
macroscopic changes, It did not show an inflammatory response either (TNF-a,
IL -6 and cellular infiltration), between the control group and the experimental
groups, the implants lingered encapsulated on the tissue until sacrifice.
