The main aim of this research is to develop a efficient and eviromentally material
for biodiesel production by heterogeneous catalysts. For this purpuse,
heterogeneous CaO(x)/SBA15 catalysts were prepared. The Mesoporous
support SBA-15 was synthesized by sol-gel method using tetraethylorthosilicate
(TEOS) as silicon precursor and the copolymer P123 [(PEO)70(PPO)20(PEO)70] as
structural template. The catalysts were prepared byconventional wet
impregnation method in an aqueous solution of calcium acetate. Catalysts were
labeled according the weigth percentage of suported calcium oxide varying
from 20 wt% to 30, 40 and 50wt%. The structure and Surface characteristics of
catalysts were characterized using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray
diffraction (XDR), Transmission electron microsopy (TEM) and the hexagonal
cristal structure was confirmed. Textural characteristics were analyzed by N2
physisorption. The Surface áreas of the catalysts were in the range of 400-800
m 2 /g. The transesterification of jatropha oil with CaO/SBA-15 was investigated
by a factorial design of 2 3 . The researched factors were time of reaction,
temperature and wt% of the catalyst. Conversions greater than 85% were
obtained.
