In this paper we report the effect of the addition of lithium in the CoMoW
catalytic formulations, performing an analysis of the main characteristics, such
as the crystalline structure and dispersion of the active phases in these CoMoW
/ Al 2 O 3 -MgO-Li 2 O catalysts, using reference the catalysts supported in Al 2 O 3 -
MgO and in Al 2 O 3 .
The evaluation of the catalytic activity obtained for these formulations was
carried out in the HDS reaction of DBT, characteristic of some oil cuts. It was
observed that the kinetic constant of reaction rate increases by 47% in the
CoMoW / Al 2 O 3 -MgO catalyst compared to the catalyst supported in Al 2 O 3 . The
reaction rate constant does not show a significant change for the CoMoW /
Al 2 O 3 -MgO-Li 2 O catalyst compared to the reference CoMoW / Al 2 O 3 . Even though
this last formulation does not show a remarkable increase in the reaction speed,
an improvement in the selectivity towards the DSD is observed, this interpreted
by the obtaining of BP that remains and does not manage to saturate and does
not transform in a great proportion to CHB, there is no evidence of the
formation of DCH as a reaction product. From the data obtained from the
evaluation of catalytic activity and the analysis of product selectivity, it is
important to highlight that the formulation CoMoW / Al 2 O 3 -MgO has a better
catalytic performance, observing an increase in the catalytic activity with respect
to the other formulations, also preserving the low hydrogenating function,
observed by the low saturation of BP towards CHB and the absence of DCH as a
product.
Characterization data have been obtained in the oxidized state of the catalytic
formulations as their surface area. The acid strength and the total number of
acid sites of these formulations were determined, observing the decrease of
these in quantity with the addition of Mg and Li in the formulations. The
crystalline phases present in the catalytic formulations were identified using
