Instituto de Ciencias Nucleares, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México,
Circuito Exterior, Ciudad Universitaria, México DF 04510, México. This paper
presents the synthesis of the binary graft of "thermosensitive polymers and
sensitive pH" ie intelligent polymers, the monomers used are N-
Vinylcaprolactam (NVCL) and Acrylic acid (AAc) grafted in Chitosan hydrogels
(net-CS) by ionizing radiation by pre - oxidative irradiation and direct method, in
order to modify said polymers to be used for the loading and release of mainly
antimicrobial drugs. Factors such as the effect of the dose, monomer
concentration and temperature were studied. The materials obtained were
characterized by IR-ATR, Thermogravimetric Analysis, limit swelling tests were
carried out, the critical pH as the critical solution temperature (LCST), were
determined as well as the study of drug loading and release.
