APPLICATIONS
Recently, electromagnetic (EM) shielding in broadband has become a critical
issue in wearable devices. Woven metal fibers, which have excellent EM wave
reflection characteristics because of their high electrical conductivities, have
been mainly used as EM shielding fabric. In the high-frequency region, however,
shielding by EM wave reflection becomes inefficient, so it is necessary to use a
material capable of absorbing EM waves. Carbon-based materials, which are
dielectric loss materials, effectively absorb energy of EM waves in a high
frequency band. Herein, we develop a facile way to produce metal/carbon
hybrid fabric for EM shielding in broadband via a simple thermal pressing. The
mechanical stabilities and EM shielding capabilities of the developed hybrid
fabrics will be discussed in relation to processing conditions and
microstructures of the fabrics.
