FABRICATION OF IRON OXIDE NANOFIBERS VIA FORCESPINNING
Salomon Luna 1
1 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Mechanical Engineering, United States.
In this work, Composite nanofibers of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and
Fe(NO3)3.9H2O were prepared via forcespinning method. Iron oxide nanofibers
were attained via calcination under air atmosphere at a temperature of 650°C
(with a heating rate of 3°C/min) to eliminate the organic compounds. The
average fiber diameter of the composite structure and iron oxide nanofibers
were obtained as 445 nm and 365nm, respectively. Scanning Electron
Microscopy (SEM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD)
were performed for the prepared samples.
