Rupture module is an essential parameter for the design of a rigid pavement,
because the rigid floor supports mainly bending efforts, which provides
information on mechanical resistance to these efforts. The nopal fiber (Ficus
Opuntia) generates agglutinative and Anticorrosive properties in mortar
mixtures. The main objective of use partial natural additions to cement is to
improve physical and mechanical characteristics of the mortar. Therefore, a
mixture of mortar is developed which 2% of corn starch and 2% of nopal fiber
are added and with a relation (water/cement) A/c = 0.77, it uses 0.4% of fluidifier
additive to reduce water consumption. Compared with a mortar control, A/c =
0.77 and additive fluidifier at 0.3%. The cement used CPC 30 R-RS and volcanic
sand of Tlalpujahua Michoacan, Mexico, Results of the experimentation show
favorable behaviour in bending efforts with 2% of nopal fiber, where at 45 and
90 days we obtain values of 7.20 MPa and 7.25 MPa respectively, which surpass
the control mix, which had values of 6.95 MPa at 45 days and 6.8 MPa at 90 days
test. Non-destructive tests were also performed as % of total porosity where the
mixture added with 2% of nopal fiber registers better results than the control
mixture.
