In the present work we show a novel way to manufacture solar cells sensitized
by dye (DSSC). For the manufacture of DSSC we used different sizes of zinc oxide
(ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) of ~ 20 nm (NPs-m) and ~ 35 nm (NP-M). The NPs were
synthesized by the assisted microwave technique, by modifying different
operating and reaction conditions. We employed NPs-m as an active and
transport film and NP-M as a light scattering film. These configurations resulted
in DSSCs with a double layer of ZnO with NPs-m and NPs-M, showing a better
form factor (FF) of 0.61 than to the single layer nanoparticles DSSC. The
efficiency values (η) determined were in the range of 2.77% to 2.11%.
