METAL ORGANIC FRAMEWORKS AS PRECURSORS FOR THE<br />

MANUFACTURE OF ADVANCED CATALYTIC MATERIALS<br />

The development of synthetic protocols for the preparation of highly loaded<br />

metal nanoparticle supported catalysts has received a great deal of attention<br />

over the last few decades. Independently controlling metal loading, nanoparticle<br />

size, distribution and accessibility has proven challenging because of the clear<br />

interdependence between these crucial performance parameters. Among the<br />

different strategies suggested in literature, the use of metal-organic-frameworks<br />

(MOFs) as precursors for the synthesis of catalytic nanomaterials offers<br />

unrivalled design possibilities, 1 as we will demonstrate in this presentation.<br />

Herein we will discuss the application of MOFs as catalyst precursors for the<br />

synthesis of highly loaded metal nanoparticle supported solids for applications<br />

in syngas and CO 2 related chemistries. 2-6 In the last part, we will introduce the<br />

use of MOFs as templates for the synthesis of single site based catalysts with<br />

application in hydrogenation reactions. 7<br />
