A JOURNEY TO THE SYNTHESIS OF FRUSTRATED LEWIS PAIRS<br />

WITH GROUP 13 COMPOUNDS<br />

A decade ago, Stephan reported an elegant and unprecent work on olefin<br />

activation through sterically frustrated Lewis pairs (FLP) of phosphines and the<br />

borane [B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 ], with a concomitant renascent of p-bloxk chemistry related to<br />

the transition metal free catalysis. Therefore, Al, Ga, and In congeners, in high<br />

oxidation state, has been olaso considered with promising and fashionable<br />

results. So, most of FLP involves counterparts group 13 and 15, respectively.<br />

However, the synthesis and reactivity of LFP having exclusively group 13<br />

elements are scarce. In this context, we will discuses our results on the synthesis<br />

of FLP containing Al(III) species [Al(Ar F ) 3 ] with Ga(I) or In(I) compounds supported<br />

by m-terphenyl ligands.<br />
