7YSZ coatings were deposited by combustion flame spray (CFS) on sintered
MCrAlY substrates. Set parameters as acetylene-oxygen gases ratio, “shooting”
distance and powder feed rate were established. Coating thickness in the range
of 30-50 mm was obtained with a typical microstructure lamellar-splats and high
porosity morphology. Hot corrosion behavior of 7YSZ coatings was studied in
presence of Na 2 SO 4 + V 2 O 5 molten salts at temperature 1050 °C. X-ray diffraction
after corrosion procedure indicates the presence of YVO 4 as a chemical reaction
product. Scanning electron microscopy analysis shows that YVO 4 is observed as
acicular morphologies characteristic.
