ELECTROMAGNETICALLY INDUCED TRANSPARENCY IN
HYPERBOLIC METAMATERIALS
Anatoliy Pinchuk 1
1 University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Physics, United States.
We present our recent theoretical results on the design of one-dimensional
hyperbolic metamaterials that exhibit the index of refraction close to unity in
the near IR frequency range. For such metamaterials, the reflectance becomes
close to zero and the transmittance is close to unity for the TE polarized
electromagnetic waves. Our model is based on the exact dispersion equation,
which allows one to accurately describe all nonlocal effects that occur in such
structures. Furthermore, our analysis has been supported with full-wave
numerical simulation. In addition, we analyze different approximate analytical
solutions of the dispersion equation for the nonlocal effective permittivity.
