The analysis of corrosion potentials of the reinforcement embedded in concrete,
manufactured with corrosion inhibitor plus the addition of sodium chloride
(3.5%) is presented, after four years of being subjected to an accelerated
carbonation chamber, it was located under indoor laboratory conditions in
southeastern Mexico. Concretes with a water/cement ratio of 0.69 and three
reinforcing steels with a coating of 15, 20 and 30 mm of concrete thickness were
made. When comparing the specimens it was observed that to the four years
the corrosion inhibitor doesn’t report beneficial effects against the corrosion of
the reinforcing steel, in the presence of chlorides and carbonation. In general,
the condition of exposure to indoor laboratory, the main behavior was within
the area of uncertainty potentials. The effect of the coating and of the
preferential faces wasn’t significant since it did not present a congruent
behavior.
