Mechanical and thermal properties in a 316L stainless steel fabricated with
additive manufacturing were analyzed; this steel is widely used in food and
medical industry, and applications that involve corrosive environments. Phase
transformations and fusion temperatures were measured through DSC tests. In
order to analyze the mechanical properties, microhardness test were
performed, while the microstructure was analyze using optical and scanning
electron microscopy. These results were compared with a 316L stainless steel
fabricated by conventional methods.
