excitations of the TiO 2 semiconductor. For pure TiO 2 nanoparticles, the small
size (10-20 nm) and its anatase phase resulted in its high photocatalytic activity
as compared to the corresponding Cr-doped one. These results corroborate well
with transient absorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic studies
respectively. The as-developed strategy of structural engineering and band-gap
tuning of TiO 2 nanoparticles via Cu- and Cr-doping can pave the way for
designing and functionalizing TiO 2 -based materials for various photocatalytic
and photovoltaic activities.
