Catalytic properties largely depends of material synthesis conditions, generally
an increased surface becomes to enhanced catalytic activity but there are
factors such as abundance of active sites and bang gap energy that should be
considered in Photocalysis. In this work we present a comparison between
sulphur doped TiO 2 prepared by sol-gel method (STSG) and hydrothermal route
with template doped in situ (STMP). The characterization by nitrogen adsorption
demonstrated that an increased specific surface for STMP, but kinetic curves of
reduction of benzophenone and degradation of methyl orange shows a better
activity for STSG that can be explain by a remarkable decrease of band gap
energy that was not observed on STMP.
