In this work, the electrical evaluation of CdS/CdTe modules of 50 cm 2 is reported.
The modules were serially interconnected by laser scribing with a 532 nm pulsed
laser in all interconnection steps (P1, P2 and P3) in the glass side processing
configuration. In each step, the laser´s optical parameters were optimized for
obtain high quality scribes and the removal mechanism were studied via a
simulation in COMSOL Multiphysics. Also, the fluence threshold was measured
for SnO 2 and CdTe and its dependence on thickness was studied for the last one.
The electrical parameters of the module were compared with the measured in
non-scribed solar cells. Finally, the impact of the contact resistivity of back-front
contacts between adjacent cells in the P2 scribe in device´s total series
resistance is studied in order to minimize the electrical losses in the module.
