In this work, we report a novel series of supramolecular dendrimers based on
L-lysine (LL) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) for potential applications in drug
delivery systems. Peptide based dendrimers play an important role in various
areas of nanomedicine because they have interesting physical chemical
properties, similar to proteins, are biodegradable and soluble in water. Firstly,
the synthesis and characterization of LL dendrimers was performed. L-lysine
was incorporated into an aromatic core, via "Click chemistry" followed by C-N (Llysine-COOH-NH-L-lysine)
coupling reactions, using a new generation of
coupling agents which are considered friendly from the environmental point of
view. Thus, through "Click chemistry" the obtained dendrimer will be linked in
the periphery with PEG. Finally, we will study the presence and absence of PEG
in the drug release of the model molecules as well as the toxicity of the
dendrimers.
