The grain size and crystalline texture of metal sheets are an important criteria
in determining the subsequent formability of the metal into finished parts.
Steels production and development are usually characterized by microscopy
and mechanical testing, which are costly and time consuming methods. No
destructive evaluation techniques, such as laser vibrometry, has been applied
into the microestructural characterization in different materials with a
promising results. In this work, a DP5900 steel under three different heat
treatment were evaluated by quantitative metallography, hardness and tension
tests. These results were then compared with the signal measurements by
vibrometry laser. Frequency and attenuation parameters show changes, and a
relationship between techniques was propose.
