2.10 DIVIDE THE WORK
– Examine the importance of statements by classifying them into three contextual levels:
– Core statements (topics),
– Background information (proof and documentation),
– Examples, proofs, summaries.
– Ensure that there is sufficient documentation to support the core statements.
– Revive the presentation of the statements by repeated switching between abstraction
and concrete levels.
– Organize the core statements according to a chosen assignment model.
– Express the work results in the thesis, and formulate them in such a way that they stimu-
late discussion.
2.11 BUILD ON THE STRUCTURE OF WORKS
– While constructing scientific work keep in mind the guidelines of the university and the
supervisors.
– Keep the forewords short, and avoid therein statements which are crucial to understand
the work.
– Structure the table of contents in an easy-to-understand manner. Choose a basic struc-
ture and stick to it.
– Bear in mind that the introduction and derivation are the eyeglasses for the reader
through which he reads the work.
– Build understandable connections between the individual chapters and main sections.
– Give a clear answer at the end of the work to the topic(s) posed at the beginning of the work.
– Explain, if applicable, that the topics posed cannot be answered or answered completely
with the available materials and the methods used in the investigation,
– Refer to the approaches for further investigation into the topic of the work.
– Offer a complete and clear source directory. Decide on the use of further indices, depen-
ding upon the type and scope of the work.
2.12 STRUCTURE ILLUSTRATIONS
– Check whether you can make the text more understandable and visible with illustrations.
– Decide on which image forms are appropriate to communicate the respective message.
– Check to see which statements are supported by graphics, and choose the basic tem-
plate for the individual presentation.
