for project work. This Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is based on the highest practical criteria. The
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has declared PMBOK as a standard.
PRINCE2 (http://www.prince2.org.uk/web/site/home/home.asp)
Projects in Controlled Environments, developed by the British Office of Government Commerce
(OGC) is a project management method for the organization, management and control of proj-
ects. PRINCE2 contains various methods which have been proven in practice. PRINCE2 delivers
standard projects which have uniform process, vocabulary and documentation. PRINCE2 is used
in over 50 countries, and is a de facto standard in the United Kingdom.
This list is certainly not complete, and is extended by company or industry-wide standards. Be-
cause there is not yet a visible trend towards one international project standard, the project man-
ager must make the best of his respective situation.
1.2 PROCEDURAL MODELS IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The author has developed a procedural model to carry out projects from his practical experience,
and relying on the aforementioned standards, which can provide assistance to the project man-
ager, and give impetus for his own national and international project management.
