EDITORS' PREAMBLE
The School of International Business and Entrepreneurship (SIBE), located in Herrenberg near
Stuttgart is the international Business School of Steinbeis-University Berlin (SHB). With various
degrees in the field of management we focus on the successful transfer of knowledge between
science and the economy. The degrees that are executed in the form of Talent-Growth-Curriculum
(Projekt-Kompetenz-Studium) are designed for companies and organisations and for competent,
innovative and open-minded High Potentials.
In the market for MBA-programs since 1994, our school currently has more than 1.000 students
enrolled in MBA-, M.A.- and M.Sc.-classes and more than 2.000 graduates.
SIBE’s target group are young graduates with a first degree and little professional experience.
The Master of Business Administration aims at students with more than two years of professional
experience of all academic fields. The Master of Arts in General Management is also open for
students of all disciplines without requiring any professional experience. In addition, we offer
two consecutive degrees, the Master of Science in Innovation and Technology Management for
engineers and scientists and the Master of Science in International Management for graduates of
Economics and/or Business Studies.
The M.Sc. in International Management aids young graduates of Business Studies to start their
careers in a notable company while at the same time deepening their knowledge in respective
fields and developing their management competencies.
The modules of the program are designed alongside the distinctive components of a Business
Plan. All milestones towards that goal are documented in Project-Study-Papers that lay the meth-
odological and theoretical foundation of the project and document the practical implementation of
the deducted recommendations.
The present book reflects the curriculum of the M.Sc. in International Management highlighting
decisive topics. Each chapter represents one key subject either outlining the subject itself or
presenting a topic of crucial interest in that discipline. We therefore thank all the authors for their
contributions to this collected edition!
We also want to thank all our lecturers and all our students and graduates who form the basis of
the program’s success and collectively work with us on further improving the concept and filling
it with life.
Last but not least we thank all the cooperating companies as they give our students the chance
to start their careers and instantly implement the ideas they develop at University.
