– Replacing workers (this measure is effective in some cases if the worker is overextended,
but should be done with tact, and with management approval).
– Increasing the number of employees (this measure is not without problems, because new
workers, as a rule must be incorporated in order to be productive. In the short term,
this can cause delays in a project, because experienced employees must instruct others
on how to accomplish tasks).
– Working overtime (as a rule, this is only effective short-term; in the longer term, this
does not solve problems).
– Changes in the project's course, e.g. by running procedures in parallel
– Improving communication
– Carrying out discussions with team members
– Changing the project's infrastructure
2.3.2.3 TRACKING MEASURES
In order to simplify and create a better overview, the project manager often creates a list of open points
(Open Item List, or, in short, OIL). These Open Item Lists can be constructed with the following contents:

This list can always be filtered by the desired criteria using tabular calculation software. The
project manager monitors the effect of the control measures. He produces a list of measures
to be carried out (type: measures), discusses their status in internal project meetings for their
implementation, and concludes the measures when they have been effectively employed. If a
correction of the variance is not possible, the project plans must be updated and reworked. This
may only take place, however, with the agreement of the client and decision-making committee.
