Do I provide the final assurance that the formulated topic:
– targets sufficiently in the area in which the scientific work is derived,
– offers enough space for originality, and
– can be worked on in the available time.
2.3 DETERMINE AND DIFFERENTIATE TERMS
– Specify the topic-related terms for the work.
– Examine terminology connections.
– Collect synonyms and foreign language equivalents.
– Decide on the scope of the work in relation to the significance of the terms in the work
– Put the specification of terms in the work:
– In the introduction with its own section.
– »on site« in the text.
– »on site« with a reference to the professional terminology (glossary).
2.4 COLLECT AND ASSESS DATA
– Develop sufficient primary material, above all in field research, and secondary material
through a study of the available literature
– Check whether the value of the information of the data derived, is at the level of the
techniques and methods used
– Plane the course of the empirical examination and lead it through the following steps:
– Formulate a scientific issue.
– Look for already existing theories and hypotheses.
– Develop and formulate the hypotheses.
– Establish the method-specific selection process
– Prepare the data using statistical procedures and their interpretations
– Work out the core of the statements
– Choose a specific survey instrument (questionnaire, observation, experiment, etc.) de-
pending upon the scientific issue in the examination.
– Determine the abilities to check with the statistical assessment of the data.
– While developing your sources remember that the way to the library takes sometimes
less time than an internet search.
– Secure the complete documentation of the sources early.
– Inform supervisors, faculty colleagues and others of the material included, and ask for
their advice.
