The procedural model consists of two clearly different components:
– Project management activities
– Project contents with value-added activities
which will be explained in this essay in greater detail.
1.2.1 PROJECT MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES
The main activities in project management are defined in the following project procedural model,
and presented in detail in Chapter 2:
– Project start
– Project planning
– Project monitoring and control
– Project completion
1.2.2 PROJECT CONTENTS WITH VALUE-ADDED ACTIVITIES
The value-added activities are presented in the form of project phase models (with phase con-
tents and milestones). These phase models are very project-specific, and are treated in this
essay for their methodological structure and only in the form of examples (see Chapter 2.1.3).
2 PROJECT PROCESSING
2.1 PROJECT START
Basically, the following rule applies to national and international projects:
The foundation for future success or failure is established in the project start phase. The project
manager must take into account the following tasks at the beginning of a project after a positive
decision from an internal client or after signing a contract with an external client:
– Project contract analysis
– Project organization
– Project phase plan
– Project infrastructure
– Project kick-off meeting
