This calculation is carried out for each work packet. The results are the total cost for each project
breakdown element. Adding up the costs (staff costs and other costs) for each procedure, each
work packet and each project segment determines the cost of the entire project. The costs are
then entered into the PM software used or into a table calculation system according to the struc-
ture of the project breakdown, and thus present the budget. This is then the basis for follow-up of
costs in monitoring and controlling the project.
2.2.6 PLAN OPTIMIZATION
All project managers often have the same bitter experience at the end of project planning. The
“magic triangle variables” given for the specified targets in the project contract:
– Time
– Resources
– Performance scope
can be verified by planning in only a few cases.
Because these variables only have to do with contracts or orders which cannot be renegotiated,
an optimization plan must then be carried out.
Plan optimization is oriented to the variables in the magic triangle:
– Time > requires > optimization of the project duration
– Resources > require > optimization of the resource approach
– Performance scope > requires > optimization of the project scope
Here are some negotiating recommendations for this:
Optimization of project duration
Examine in particular all activities on the critical path. These activities directly influence the total
