PROF. DR. GÜNTER S. HEIDUK
Günter S. Heiduk studied at Friedrich-Alexander-Univer-
sity Erlangen-Nürnberg and Albertus-Magnus University
Cologne, Germany, where he got his Diploma in Econo-
mics in 1968. After finishing his PhD dissertation as well
as his habilitation at RWTH Aachen University he had
been appointed Assistant Professor. In 1981 he accepted
an appointment as Professor of International Economics
at Duisburg-Essen University (former Duisburg Universi-
ty) from where he retired in 2007. During his tenure he
served as Dean of the Faculty of Business and Econo-
mics as well as Vice-President for International Acade-
mic Affairs. In 1983 he co-founded the East Asian Studies
Programme including the book series »Schriftenreihe zur
Ostasienforschung«, Nomos Verlag. In 1986 he found-
ed the Asia-Pacific Economic Research Institute (FIP)
which is a scientific institution at Duisburg-Essen Univer-
sity. Since then he is Chairman of this institute. He had
been invited as Visiting Professor/Researcher at Kyoto
University, Tokyo Keizai University, Fudan University (3
times), Wuhan University. He also worked as long- and
short-term expert in several EU-China projects of the Eu-
ropean Commission. Since December 2007 he had been
appointed Professor and Head of the East Asian Center
at Warsaw School of Economics, Poland. Since the first
course of the Master of Science in International Manage-
ment he is teaching International Management I and II at
Steinbeis-SIBE University.
He published 23 books and more than 50 articles.
