B) Periodical medical check up of employees - Much importance is given to
drivers' medical fitness. All bus drivers and shunters over the age of 45 years are
examined once a year and over the age of 50 years are examined once in 6 months at our
Diagnostic Centre. During this check up eye examination, X-ray of chest, blood
pressure, Urine, blood routine examination are carried out' if indicated,
electrocardiogram and further special investigations are also carried out.
4) Hospitalisation Scheme : As the Undertaking do not have our own hospital
for the treatment of our employees, the Undertaking under this scheme has reserved
beds for the benefits of its employees in various hospitals for h'eahnent medical/ surgical
condition and for pulmonary tuberculosis as under :

For any other treatment medical of surgical Patients are referred to M.C.G.M.
All the charges towards bed, medicine, investigation, operation and other
incidental expenses are borne by the Undertaking at the rates prevailing from time to
time.
5) Reimbursement of medical expenses : In the earlier days there was no
provision/ arrangement for reimbursement of medical expenses if an employee was
admitted to any hospital / nursing home in case of emergency outside BEST
Hospitalisation Scheme. Due to non-availability of admission in hospitalization scheme,
since 1972 if an employee is admitted to Municipal/Public/Government
